It is describing the shape of the aerofoil on the blades. Semi symetrical have a curved top and a flat bottom to them, these are good for general flying around and basic aerobatics. Symetrical blades have the same curve on the top and bottom of the blades so no matter which way up you fly they will work great. These are used more for 3D flying but will do fine for any flying. If you are a complete beginner you would be better off with wooden semi's because if you crash with symetrical carbons its gunna rip your heli apart and they are epensive.
Hope this helps

Good source for 680s

Whats the best source for some economical 680 semi made from wood that are good quality? Can you get economical and quality in a single package, if so...where?

I currently have a set of SAB carbon blades and do not want to crash/replace them.

TIA,

$28 Fiberglass Blades

I have a few sets of these blades. They look and fly great. And they are only $28!!! I posted the info several months ago on this web site, but here is a repeat of that post.

The company that makes them is "The World Models". The USA distributor and retailer is Airborne Modles. Here is a link to their web page. They also have full page ads in RCM magazine.

http://www.airborne-models.com/

Once you get there, look down at the lower left corner and you will see "Parts and Accessories". Click on Accessories. Go to the bottom and click on page 2. Once on page 2, scroll down to the bottom and you will see the following two items:

FRP main rotor blade PR6200550 Fiberglass 550 mm semi-symmetrical. Clockwise rotation. 4 Oz. pre-balanced. Bolt hole 4 mm, root 12.5 mm.

FRP main rotor blade PR6200551 Fiberglass 550 mm symmetrical

If you then go to page 3, you will see the 660's and 680 blades.

Please note the web site says the root is 12.5mm, in reality, they are exactly 12mm and fit the Raptor perfectly. Yes, they include spacers and bushings for 3mm and 4mm bolt holes.

I hope this helps. -Steve
