| Lighted gas tank?I'm sure someone has thought of this before, but putting a small light focused on the top of the fuel tank would possibly solve the problem. It should even put out a cool green glow if you are using the CP 15 for fuel. With the right setup, you should be able to see it from a distance too.
I haven't tried night flying before, but it sure looks neat. I stuck around the Brooks, OR fun fly last fall and was just blown away by what the guys were doing with helis at night. I was expecting to see some careful hovering and easy circuits, but these guys were doing full 3D stuff. Amazing! One guy even did an inverted (to upright landing) autorotation - this has to be hard even when you can clearly see where the ground is. To see one going about eye level down the runway doing tailfirst rolls was way cool to!
