I have a Litemachines Heli with a norvel .07 and i was using Cool Power 20% fuel and i ran out of it. So i borrowed some Bluemax 20% fuel from a friend. Boy, what a difference, it ran so much better i could hardly believe it.... So my question is, does anyone think that if i use
Bluemax in my shuttle w/OS 32 will it possibly run better, kinda like the LMH did ? After all isn't it ( Bluemax ) made for high rpm's and high heat ? Any Reply is appreciated.

If I remember correctly, the Blue Max fuels are for r/c car use and only contain around 14 % oil. I would not use this fuel in any helicopter engine, you need a minimum of around 18% oil content for the heli engines, most preferrably 20-24%. I imagine if you continue to run the Blue Max in the Norvel, it will continue to run like a bat out of he__ untill it stops very suddenly!

Ain't that the truth, David?

And what really cracks me up is, every time I take my grandson to the local track to run his little nitro truck, without fail at least one "car" person will see my green CP fuel, ask if it is "airplane" fuel, and when I allow that it is he tells me I'm going to ruin my engine with it.

At first, I tried to explain/reason with them about oil content. But the hard-core car guys are thoroughly brain-washed by the "conventional wisdom", so now I just smile and thank them for their concern.

Truth is, I almost burned the sucker up with that low-oil Blue Thunder, before I realized the overheating problem was NOT due to restricted airflow around the head. Five ounces of Klotz solved THAT problem...

Another thing; given that there is less oil, and comparable nitro, in car fuel, WHY is it considerably more expensive??? The local guy gouges us big-time on fuel, but at least he is consistent. He sells a gallon of CP 15% for $17.99; a gallon of 10% Blue Thunder is $24.99, and a gallon of 15% Blue Thunder is $27.99.

Needless to say, I don't buy fuel from him anymore. But is it just him, or is that great price disparity the norm?

Now that you mention it, I believe he is getting all of his fuel through a third party/distributor.

But I'll go through the hassle of mixing my own before I pay those prices. With folks in other parts of the country saying they are paying as little as $12 (hobby shop prices) a gallon for CP 15%, somebody is ripping somebody off here.

There was a thread earlier on manufacturer hype. Personally, I think this area (car fuel) is one of the worst in that regard. Some guy named Ron Paris is supposed to be the Curtis Youngblood of r/c car racing. I e-mailed him a query about fuel in general, and got this reply: "We only recommend Blue Thunder Racing Fuel."- which is the $28-a-gallon stuff. That told me what I needed to know about his objectivity.

Surely Ron Paris did not reply to your email as he passed away recently.

Sorry to hear that. But, yes, he did reply personally. This was about a year ago. I had been directed to his web site, and sent an e-mail with some questions.
