I need some advice. I am disassembling a Milli and am upgrading to the double o ring set-up. How does one extract the o ring holder s4682 from the head. I seem to recall a post concerning placing the head in the freezer. Well it is in there now what next?

Use fire?

what about using fire?
like small gas torch to warm up the head block.

Get the flame of torch to the outer side of head block around the S4682 or, put whole thing in oven for a while. (i recommand oven)
The material of head block and S4682 is different(not sure) and thermal expasion should be different. like pulling out rear bearing of engine. Maybe using freezer is to make this thermal expansion more efficient.

Actually, mine was pulled out quite easily. with hand. without fire.

You know Robbe part quality is excellant and be careful to not to damage such expensive part.

oh. one more thing.
use thermal expansion in putting the new part. if it is difficult.
Don't burn up the part. excessive burn will deteriorate the head block.
that's why i recommand oven.

I have done about 4 of these. I used a torch and heated the head block so it is just above the temp where you can hold it in your hand. Then grab the old inserts with a pair of pliers and rotate them out. The oven thing is good too, but the inserts are the same material as the block so they might stay tight. When you put the new inserts in, freeze them first and heat the block and they will slide right in. I recommend a little green loctite to hold them in good. Make sure they are seated all the way in before you are done.

OK so here is the rest of the story. I used a heat gun until the part could not be held by human hands. then I tapped out the o ring holder with a punch and a flat head screw driver place in the center of the head and punch from one side to the other. It appears that about 2 gallons of locktite were use by the previous owner. Well on with the restoration. Thanks.
