Ok,
For all of those who turned their 30 into an OH6... how did it turn out? Does it fly. Did you have to change the motor size? What extras did you have to change or did you just slap it in (after fuse mods) and fly?
Is it worth doing?

I put mine in a Shuttle with an OS 32, at Denvers almost 6000 feet of altitude it flies fine.

Still in the finishing phase, but I did a test flight last night. The .32 pulled it pretty good, but I think we're going to go with a .46 or a .50 ultimately. I'm planning on putting in some silly stuff like operating lights, and maybe a s.w.a.t. action figure on the skids, so it's going to get heavy! Check out these threads for the evolution.

Mine started life as the police version. I got this one because I didn't know if I could actually pull this off, and I would rather blow $30 than $80. I sanded it and painted it flat black, then I'll add a few guns and things and it'll look like the $80 Little Bird.

Hey Max.
Don't know if you caught my other thread or not, but I thought I'd let you know...The eccpm mod is working like a charm! I hovered it last night and it was smoother than the original Hawk system! It works!!!

Hey

Looking at the T R US the TR is on the left side but the Hawk is on the right. How are you making that conversion?

Hey Max e-mail me some pictures.....
alxme@comcast.net
I got mine last week, and i am working on it.
i am waiting on the engine. Landing gear supports are almost done.
Have to do some cutting, and slap the hawk in it.....
i was thinking on going ccpm, but i am not sure how to go about it.
i don't know how much work we'll require to do that...

You have to chop off the tail on the ToysRus heli in order to use the Hawk tail, then the tail is automatically on the right side. The Hawk tail boom is longer than the ToysRus heli, therefore it sticks out the end of the ToysRus fuse..........................Dave

Hey all! I flew the hughes this weekend, it flew great! The .32 is definitely underpowered, but it makes for pretty good scale flight. I was really surprised at how well the 32 performed carrying all that weight! I got a micro servo working the front spotlight, now I have to scavenge a mini mag light to make it work.
The ccpm mod works great! It flies perfect and smooth! I would say it is a success. ALXME, here is a link to the ccpm mod I did:

The good thing is that it's reversible in case you don't like it. Check my gallery for more pics.

jojo,

I added woodies back to mine and it flies great with my os32....slightly underpowered yes but has the climb out when needed and I keep the engine a little rich as it heats up good to hold that weight up (did you notice that?) also I'm running about -4,5,10 where are you at jojo on pitch and throttle curves?

all in all I will keep it with the 32 but you need perfect pitch/throttle curves to keep that weight up....I like!

Yep, mine heated up a little, and it will probably get worse as I don't have the doors on yet, so I'll have to enlarge the cooling holes. I richened mine up a little too. I don't remember what the throttle curve is but the pitch is around -2,5,14. It's hovering at a little less than 3/4 stick. So far, it's real comfortable to fly! I might go with the .46, because I want to add some scale goodies, but for now the .32 is doing fine. The real trick is in the works right now - I'm building my own 4 bladed head! I have no idea if this is going to work, but if I get lucky (like I did with the ccpm thing) it'll be totaly cool! It should be pretty cheap too. I'm figuring about $65 without blades, and if it works, you could shorten the main shaft to get a more scale look! I'll keep you posted on the progress!

I'll try to remember to take some pics of the spotlight tonight. I just checked out your gallery, that hawk looks awesome! You must get about a half an hour flight time with all that fuel!

yeah that darn tank keeps going, and going, and going. i love that extra tank.

it gives me plenty of time flying all over. some times i'll finished the main tank, and i have to land to give some else a chance to fly, otherwise i'll still be flying....
