Can't beat a triton....

A 12vdc 10 amps should be ok, depending on your application. If you can get about 13 volts out of it, even nicer.

I run mine off a 22 amp supply running about 13.5 volts. Works pretty good.

If you are going to use a computer powersupply, be careful, there is a thread of someone cooking there triton with such a ps. I ran off one for a little whie, did not care for it( had to load the 5 volt side with a .68 ohm resistor which ran about 7 amps(36 watts). The temp of the resistor was about 150 to 170 degrees F) I personally would not recomend that.

I hope this helps a little

I am currently using a 2.5 Amp power supply for my Triton.
It allows me to charge my TX and RX packs as fast as I want.

When I charge my 8 cell NiCD packs for my combat wing I can only charge them at about 2.2 amps.

I was charging a 13 cell pack yesterday at 1 amp.

This should give you a reference.

I use a converted computer power supply and it works great. Cost me about $5.00 in parts. I am able to run two chargers at a time with it.

Airman,

Very clean setup. Never thought of attaching it to a jump start battery...

Nice

I'm running three chargers off my 10 amp PC power supply. It works great and best of all, it was free (a client gave me his dead PC) except for the $5 worth of banana plug receptacles and on/off switch I bought and installed from Radio Shack.

Bottom line... the PC power supply has been working just fine for me for more than a year.

Airman98, VERY nice setup.

This is a link for the one from Radio Shack. Looks pretty good for 60 bucks. I may have to run down and get one some day.

I've used several different supplies. I've converted pc power supplies and they worked well. I made a couple for friends. I have used my dual output linear supply on my workbench. But what I've found to work nicely is a 5 amp table top switching supply. It is an adapter so one can use the Igloo hot/cold cooler from a 110 outlet. It comes with a 12V female car plug. A trip to Rat Shack an you can get the male end and a couple of banana plugs to make the connection. I bought it on clearance at Wally World for 5 bucks.

Some surplus electronic supplier that you can pick up a supply from are:

www.allelectronics.com
www.goldmine-elec.com

electronic suppliers:

www.jameco.com
www.digikey.com

If you decide to go the pc ps route. Check here on runryder in a previous tread. It has links to converting a pc ps for your rc charger use.

I bought mine a long time ago when I raced cars so it cost me about $80. I don't know what they go for now but its the 13amp Hobbico model that Tower sells. Its been super reliable. I really like it because I can power two chargers at the same time with no problem.

Later,
Mike

Cheap and Reliable

Hi,

I have the pyramid power supply. Works great, and comes with both posts and cigarette liter. $40 + 10 shipping, not a bad deal.
