In flight failures

Virtual1,

You must WANT an inflight failure. I would remove the ZIP ties pronto or you will end up with a cut wire and no gyro (I assume that is the gyro mounted behind the main mast??).

You can fly without a gyro right?

zip ties

I double that with The_Dave. Zip ties can and will cut thru the soft plastic coating wire bundle. An alternate is waxed chord tie. Check your local Avionics shop at any airport. Im sure they will give you about 10 yrds which will last you a life time.

The wire ties are just there to bundle things, they're not strapping it down drum-tight. The wires actually looked willing to stay where they were, but I didn't want anything trying to creep up around the main gear or pulleys.

My mechanic is not always so helpful. He just took my tube of JB Weld and punched two holes in it, vampire style. Grrr....

In the "inspection" picture he's actually working on the cord to my muffler plug, but ya, for some reason he is very determined to eat my helicopter. I've told him over and over again it's not made of cat food, but do you think he listens?

The other day he tried to eat a tube of JB Weld. That cat's got issues, and I bet indigestion too. I secretly wished he had found the bottle of superglue instead, that would have cut down on his helicopter nibbling for a few days at least.

virtual1, have the same grey tabby as yours, and yes she does like to inspect the heli's in my room for those pesty little mouse freeloaders ..

she was checking the cg of the heli .. had one of them decide to camp out inside the canopy .. no wonder it was nose heavy! hehe ..

heh... I wonder if anyone has placed a pilot cage in their heli and flown around with like a mouse/hamster or something for a live pilot? On a guess I'd say somebody out there must have tried it. That'd be an interesting thing to see. It'd certainly increase the difficulty factor of holding a steady hover...

What Do You Do?

Well, I don't think I want to be scraping mouse poop from my electronics any time soon-- So I will leave the live ones on the ground.
