Eye candy machine?

The metal head looks nice, apart from the bolt together blade grips. But then that mast top. Now I see its got a shinny ball top, but by the time you put your palm on it to stop the bugger whizzing round that square fly bar carrier is going to make an 'impression' on yer hand.

Now tell me, hands up, how many peeps here fly with NO protection around their batteries or Rx? Will the canopy still fit once thats taken care of?

By the looks of it, one hard landing and your into replacing side frames, not just an U/C. Unless of course those square edged skids are meant to dig into the ground, thus stabilizing the airframe

Don't get me wrong, its not that I don't like the overall look of the machine, it just that looking at the practicalities of flying it leaves some concerns. Looks like it was designed by a 'designer' rather than a heli flier.

I believe I saw/held one of the prototypes at the Bergen booth at Toledo. I don't think that "lightweight" was a term that came to mind. It certainly was no brick, but I'm not so sure it will weigh out two pounds lighter than the other 30 sized models out there. Chris even mentioned to me that he though there were some things that could be done to get the weight down.

Things I noted.

Notice the fuel tank is right under the main shaft. Doesn't look to have any cusioning tho.

Dual flapping head

Main upper frames could go carbon to lighten it up

The lower frames could be G-10 It's real hard to tell. If they are G-10 they would be much stronger and less prone to bending than aluminum

What's the tail rotor configuration?

Looks like a neat toy, some very interesting design features in that. N

$600.00 for a 30 size.

Come to find out. This WONDER 30 is going to be closer to $600.00 than $400.00 . I am expecting some additional information regarding this unit and may be able to obtain a kit. Also, to my knowledge there seems to be some discrepency with the total weight of the unit as well. At this point it doesn't look good. I hope to put alot of these rumors to rest here shortly. If anyone else finds out anything in the meantime let me know.

Saw it at the chicago hobby show, they want 700 bucks for the kit, with cf blades and fg canopy prepainted.

The machining is very well done and this is a korean upstart business operatng out of torrence CA from what they told me.

Couple of thoughts after examining the machine closely,

Head looks good, lots of tilt, everything is pretty symmetrical and well machined.

Starter system requires a one way hex start shaft and CANNOT be replaced with a pegae, or excell starting cone because the hex cone is built into the fan, not even sure if you can replace the hex starter cone if you strip it. no bueno

NOT a driven tail, and no way I can see to make it so. They use two stage gear reduction that uses belt drive. It looks quiet and seemed to auto OK in the video they were showing but I have my doubts.

Finally, if I had 700 bucks to spend on a heli, I think I would spend it on a as good quality kit from hirobo or xcell in a 60-90 sized machine rather than on a lightened 30 machine. I think they are pricing themselves out of thier target market...

Also,

The clutch was VERY light on material, it had literally half of the material you normally see in a 30 sized clutch removed, I have concerns about the 'wing tips' on it cracking off, there was very little meat to it.

They do use a very large diameter boom for a heli this size and it is nice thick carbon tube, looks rock solid. The tail assembly was very interesting, in that it had a dual pivot point slider assembly that words can't adequetly describe. It felt extremely tight though and the slider pivot assembly was not ball raced at the pivot point like the Hirobo and Raptor 30 systems, it is simply a metal block that pivots at two points on what look like steel press pins and cap head bolts.

The frames are stacked and well supported, it looked VERY sturdy and I don't think it is intended for beginners. Also, the included blades are 530mm blades, not the standard 550 everyone else uses. They say you can use 550s on it but the included tail blades were VERY VERY small carbon blades, and I personally like to run much bigger tail blades even on a 30.

Overall the machining is impressive and it is a beautiful looking piece but I have some doubts about some of the design choices they made, especially with the attached price tag being nearly the cost of an Xspec and a Fury Expert.

They are supposedly going to introduce a 60 and a 90 size shortly, can't imagine how much those would cost.
