Yesterday, when I was learning tail hovering, it lost its tail suddenly and did the 360 pirouetting. It was totally lost the rudder controll for a few second, I am wonder what is the problem and have anyone had this losing rudder control before? The duration was only about 2-3 second and then it back to normal.

I am using Futaba 601 gyro and servo 9151 that is the recommanded one. One of my friend has this experience before and he is using Futaba 502 set.

Will it be the servo problem, or the gyro sensor or others?

Best regard,
Martin

S9251

Don't you mean the S9251? If you are using the S9151, it will be fried by the gyro. Only use the S9251 with the GY601, it cannot be used for any thing else & the gyro uses only it, no other servos.

For the gyro 60, I am using the servo 9151 and for the gyro 502, the servo 9153 was used. So there won't be any mismatch of the servo and the gyro.

Here in the US the GY601 uses the 9251 servo and the GY502 uses the 9253 servo. The 9251 has an aluminum case that acts as a heat sink.

i had the same thing happen last fall on my gasser at about 100' and it was the rudder servo wire shorting out on the clutch bell. only it never stopped pirouetting

Oh, sorry, you are right. The servo for gyro601 is 9251 not 9151 and the servo for gyro 502 is 9253 not 9153. Sorry for my typing mistake.

Jack, how do you correct it?

Are you using a PPM receiver? PPM glitches can cause the behaviour you described. Futaba pretty much assume that you will be using a PCM receiver with the 601 (and GY501, 502, and 401).

Was the battery discharged. Gyros do act up when the battery voltage gets low, typically about 30 s before you lose all control.

Apart from that, there is something faultly somewhere. Start by checking that all the wiring and plugs are secure. Tap things with a screwdriver handle to see if they are vibration sensitive. Do a range test to make sure the radio is working properly.

Oh, I have received the reply from the Futaba and they suggested sending it back for repair.

But I try the gyro once more and I find that the autopirouetting happen again. This time and landed and check it completely, I find that there is low battery. I think the first time maybe casued by the same reason - low battery. This is because the battery was replaced by one of the four batteries. This maybe due to the unmatched effect.

Thanks for all of advice
