Aerobatic FAI F3C Contest > YS91 ratio for FAI

Hi,

I read some previous posts about the YS91 gearing, and most end like "more testing has to be done"...

What's the consence now? I have a robbe Nova, YS91, Funtech HN90 F muffler and the 7.57:1 ratio which I just sold. BBT 70cm Evo FAI and Evo 3D blades (I guess nowbody knows them in the States)

I'm not yet sure whether 7.86 or 8.18 would be better with CP15% - the fuel is thinner than what most US pilots use so there will be less torque than with 20% and an MP2.

What do you think? I would say that 7.86 is a good compromise between high head speeds for FAI, silent hovering and just cruising around, fuel consumption and so on.

I don't run a Governor so overspeeding might be a problem with 8.18 as well. I don't want to get one anyway, one more piece to break...

Regards,

Andi
