| For those curious about ordering from Japan, here' s timeline of my recent purchase from Ishiimokei.
July 3 - Sent order and International Postal Money Order via registered mail.
July 11 - Received E-mail confirming that they received order.
July 24 - Received E-mail notifying me of order shipped from Japan via SAL (not as expensive as EMS and reasonably secure). E-mail also provided tracking number. However, tracking cannot be access from the USPS site. I suppose if the parcel got lost, I could take the number to the Post Office and they can track for me. Ishiimokei did not provide reason for the delay and I'm assuming that some of the stuff I ordered may not have been in stock.
July 29 - Received invoice via regular mail.
August 7 - Received parcel from Japan.
Total days from start to finish about 30 days.
The company takes a few days to respond to E-mail but they do respond.
Overall, not a bad experience and a new source hobby supplies. There nothing like a global hobby shop ( from your LHS to Heliproz to Heli-kraft and now to Ishiimokei).
Some mail order shops in the land of the rising do take Paypal. However they will charge you an extra 3-4% plus another 5% for sales tax.
There may or may not be tariffs (customs duties) depending on the size of the order.
Happy shopping! |
