Good Luck!

Best of Luck Alexandre!

I'm looking forward to hearing about and seeing the results!

Are you flying a fixed-wing or heli?

Anyone else tried a near 'plug&play' system out there?

amazing setup

I've taken the liberty of posting some of the pictures that Alex sent me of his portable video package. You really have to see this, he put together a work of art. Alexandre, please let me know if I misrepresented anything in your setup, I guessed at most of it based on what I could see in the pictures.

Keep in mind, that he bought a bare 'tuna-can' transmitter. The only part of his setup that looks remotely like what I sent him is the receiver

Dang!

That gives a whole new meaning to the term "prop strike"

Alexandre is currently tweaking his installation and I thought this might be a good thread to ask the question, "what antennas are working well for you?"

Antenna selection is one of those black-arts, especially at these frequencies. I use the stock whip on the transmitter and one of my new patches on the receiver, and I get few enough "hits" to allow me to produce nice videos with long stretches of perfect video. I know antenna selection isn't the only factor (local environment is a big one), but antenna installation can make or break a setup.

I'd be curious to see the setups of folks who get video with nice long clean stretches. Bonus points if the antennas are commercially available

Hi,

I used today Blackwidowave 2.4ghz Yagi antenna ($50), the results are MUCH better than with the wipe antenna that come with the receiver, I had only two images drops on a 10mn flight !!!!!

I even had my wife looking at the video for more than 30s !!!

I still have to work on vibrations and on a better protection for the camera's lens again the gas smoke and the sun glare.

I'll post a video a soon I have good quality shoots.

The next step (in few months) will be to fly the airplane live from a TV !

great news

This is great news Alexandre!

It sounds like the majority of your original "hits" were from multipath interference, and you've weeded those out with the more directional antenna.

I look forward to seeing the video.
