Actually I think Airfoil did a respectable night video showing the lights of a town or something. Some video cameras will perform OK down to relatively low light levels. Thinking about it I have an ultra low-lux Ex-View HAD Sony chip CCD camera that goes down to near infra red, it reproduces colours better than the naked eye in low light. This will certainly leave ISO800 film way behind "in the dark" - just a thought, perhaps a shade more constructive than the above. Bottom line, most stills photo solutions will seriously struggle at night for all sorts of reasons (like they normally need tripods) that is - unless you use infra red film.
Cheers!
