Howdy Jack,

On good weather weekends you should be able to find Barbary or UAI flying at the park. Sometimes they fly out at hopewell. Once I get things sorted out I'm gonna try flying in OC on Sats and New Paltz on Sundays, weather permitting. So I can actually get to see all the guys again! Drop Barbary or UAI a private message, they have posts throughout this thread.

Groovy

I am plankin' it for now. The mistress is down, could'nt keep the engine clean. I am developing my own show at this time in conjunction with AJT... "Eddy and the Planks" (Ode).

It seems that my R30 (The Mistress) has suffered from a bad case of piston decay and is now in pieces awaiting it's final destiny (where's Oby Won when you need him?), mabe a new engine, or possibly keeping it around for spares and getting a R50.

Rock On!

Mike, I think your big raptor has a nicer canopy. Sucks to see the little one in pieces though :/ The jetski trailer would look pretty good with a turbine heli on it

Glad you're getting right back on the rebuild and was impressed with how quick you jumped right back into flying.. 20 minutes later How big did those videos turn out to be?

BTW: I need a set of 680 woodies, will pay ya back on Fri or Sunday if thats cool with you.

Thanks for the offer Al, I'm all set with the blades though I think Unless I shread another set Yeah, this hobby is very addictive, and it does add up quickly, but it's such a great hobby, well worth every penny I think(aside from that defective glow extension). Gotta keep the adrenaline fresh by burning up all the stuff that's been sitting around for a while.

Videos from Sunday

Here are sunday's video guys. Blades on friday.. woohoo! If you need any help rebuilding on Saturday let me know, you're getting pretty good with setting these up though

I went through and edited out most of the frames that had nothing but static in them, it makes them a bit choppy at points.

Camera Durability Test Platform(bit of cursing at the end, cover your kids ears):

First Zagi Cam Flight a crashing takeoff:

Second Zagi Flight with fence hit at the end. It's choppy at the beginning but gets better further in:

nice videos jon they look great, ill try to get some wire and extend that antenna out of the transmitter and with a better receiving antenna the shots should clear up alot. we'll see what happens.

cant wait to fix my chopper and film some fly by's that would be cool to see, this time no crashes. hopefully.....hehe

i have to thank uai aka (rob) for getting me the parts needed to get back in the air. if anyone needs anything let him know.

sar i think i'm hooked on this onboard video thing.

good night

Yeah, that onboard video stuff is neat, and cheap with such a low cost camera. I'll bring a couple of different reciever antennas with me next time and we can see how they work out. The receiver just has a standard cable TV connector on it, right?

Yep thats me. I remember you. (JOHN) I wondered what happened, You just stopped coming to the field. Well as you can see I have a HELI now. Just starting too learn how too fly it. HA HA! Very differnt from planks. really enjoying the learning curve. It's been a GREAT change for me. It's put a lot of interest back into the hobby. It will be good too see you again! As you can see there is a lot of people coming out of the wood work for the HELI world. Thats a good thing!! I really think this is just a start. I've got a feeling that there are a lot more people wanting to fly HELI's And are waiting for the opportunity to join others in this Quest. As far as I can see the big growth in RC, Is in the helicoptor end. All these years at our field I've only seen a few NEW people interested in RC PLANES. In the last month I've probably have met a dozen new HELI people. (all GOOD). And growing every week. But anyway It's nice too here from you and I will be looking foward to seeing you SUNDAY.

Where oh where did this new interest in helis come from, one might ask? Could it be, one little nutcase who can't learn to land a DuraPlane and started to bring a reviled Nexus 30 down to New Paltz on Sundays, to be derided as crazy, to hear a certain Pete who shall remain nameless try his best to talk me into throwing it in the trash and running like hell before it's too late; to hear a certain well respected master of the plank saying things like "not me!" and "never, ever" (AJT, I'm talking to you.); hmmmmm......LMAO!! I claim the credit (or the blame), as somewhere along the line, heli pilots took pity on me and started sharing the secrets and generously helped me get my Nexus set up, and helis beside mine began to appear on the New Paltz flight line, and Al's interest has moved from hovering planks to hovering rotors. Well, the rampant interest shown by all the "helifriends" old and new, shows that we are into a good addiction, and I am proud to be a small part of it. Just when the sticker shock catches up with you guys, don't blame me! LOL
