| ClutchIf you stop and think about how popular the Raptor is and how many have been sold to NEW helicopter pilots, I think you might see the problem. Clutches are all about the same. I, think that ignorance has played a large part in the clutch problem. Not that people are stupid, but they do not have an understanding of what they are doing when they glue in the linner. I've talked to a lot of guys that just glued them in, and wham, failure after failure. They don't understand that it needs to be glued and pressure applied equaly around the linner as to make it as close to round as possible. I've heard of alot of fixes but I, think that most of them involve wrapping the clutch with tape and adding tin can pieces to shim the clutch linner to close up the gap. I think its the even pressure that really does the job.
That said, as stated in the above post, you don't just bolt thast engine right down and go. If, on the other hand you will locktight all four screws and instll them just finger tight, then spin the starter shaft; if it spins freely, start tightening the screws on down, checking the starter shaft after every screw to insure that spins with relative ease. Yes, spinning it backwards in the oneway bearing will tell you how good you alignment is.
I hope this helps. Just my thoughts.
