Aerial Photography and Video > El cheapo photography attempt?

I am thinking of trying some crude aerial photography this Summer with my Caliber 30.

My plan is to mount a standard 35mm camera in a ply box lined with vibration insulating foam, with a hole for the lense. It would be actuated by a servo pushing the button.

Would this produce alright results, and has anyone got any ideas how and where to mount the box?

Thanks, hope this idea is feasible

I saw this recently, it's about a Raptor 30 but I'm sure it could apply to your bird...

This guy just took a stock Raptor 30 and mounted his camera to an extended landing gear and took it up.. Good article, quite informative...

Low cost, high camera!

I like what he did with the G2 simulator, he made his heli heavier and tested the way it flew and tested how much it could lift and he said it was fairly accurate in real life...

I did that yesterday and made my G2 Raptor weigh in at 20 pounds!! It took full throttle just to achieve a hover!! LOL

Check this out

Hey, at work.. sneaking some online time.. I can't talk long.. but check out my web page at www.rchelicam.com . I put a camera with pan and tilt on a Raptor 30 for almost no cost, and with AMAZING results. It flew like the camera wasn't even there... it lost almost no performance. I have since moved to a gasser for images.. and spent 8 months working out kinks in my custom designs. I really took the Raptor 30 for granted. It worked great, and got me started in a real company. I JUST blew the clutch in my 30 after years of service, and I ordred a Raptor 50... they are strictly for fun now, the gasser is my camera ship (525 lines of video w/ flourite professional lense and 4 megapixel stills).

Drop me a line at geoff@rchelicam.com and tell me what ya think. There are pics of my rig on the page as well as videos and stills.
