I need help selecting my first Electric Helicopter. I am looking at the Corona 120, the Pro Piccolo and the Eco 8 from Hobby Lobby. I have never flown a heli, but I have been flying airplanes for about a year and a half. Please help me select from one of these heli's based on easiest to learn on, upgradeable, durability, etc. Thanks.

I'd suggest a simulator first off. They may be $200 bucks but they'll save you that in crash costs and they're easily resellable for very little loss.

Then i'd probably suggest staying away from the micros, if you must have electric.

Here's why: After about 2 weeks of on/off flying the simulator, I hovered and got into forward flight with my Raptor 50 my first time out. No training gear, I just flew it.
Then I picked up a used Piccolo from a friend and after about a week of fiddling-hopping around-fiddling-hopping around, I finally got it into forward flight. MUCH more touchy, MUCH harder to set up (hence the fiddling) than a bigger machine.

The Eco's (i've heard) are much more stable. Dunno about the Corona

That's my .02

good luck

First Heli

The terrible thing about R/C helicopters is the cost. If you truly want to get into R/C helis, electrics may not be a good starting point.

The initial costs are "in the ballpark" between fuel and electric, although electric are a bit cheaper.

In either case - helicopters are a booger if you don't have help.

Try to find somone that you can actually meet up with to go over your heli before it ever leaves the ground. First time heli-ing can be very frustrating and costly indeed without that help.

Good luck on your choice. Remember, RUNRYDER is a great source for getting advice and questions answered.
