Hey guys, I'm planning to change the leads on two of my JR 8411 servos. I want to do this instead of adding another two connectors and short extention, I suppose this will void the warranty. I bought an 18" heavy duty gold extension that I will cut one end off of and just go into the servo and replace the one that's in there now. Is this good a idea? I don't really want to take it to a dealer, how difficult can it be? Thanks----Barry.

Are you good with a soldering iron?

Unless you are real good with a solering Iron and have one that is temp controlable. I would just take it to a local electronic repair shop. They shouldn't charge to much to swap leads.

I suck with a soldering iron so I don't screw around with that stuff. I have a buddy who is an expert and has all the gadgets to make electronic items so I abuse my freindship with him.

Changing a sevo lead?

Thanks volkul, no I'm not great with an iron, but I am adventurous! I have several JR 507's that probably won't mine being experimented on-at least I can say I have never "heard" one of them complain! You make a good point though, I'll have to think about tearing into a $200.00 servo! -----Barry.

Don't be scared of it

If you have a soldering iron, solder, and flux, (liquid or paste) and have trimed a heli to fly (little humor there), You won't have any problem doing the servo connectors. Just make sure you slide some "Heat Shrink Tubeing" up one wire of each set of the wires before you solder them together. Slide the shrink over the solderd solder joint and apply some heat from you iron. Tada!!!!! New connector.

Oh and NEVER CUT IT TOO SHORT.

Changing a servo lead?

Thanks vetrider, actually I only need about 14"(for the servo lead I mean!) a bit of humor back at ya, that's why I bought an 18" lead, so I would have some to play with. I think I'll give it a try.--------Barry.

HAHAHA Yep a good one! But, my wife might get jealous

Like you I think I'm going to be Extending mine TOO (servo leads)
I just put the servos in my new, unused, un-finished TSK 60 and those 2 at the rear are just too short to reach deep into the coweling.

Aahhh the joys of rigging!!!!!!!!
