My wife and I have been caught up in the "Harry Potter" frenzy here in the U.S. In this 5th book there is great deal of reference to "butter beer." Can someone tell me what that is exactly?

Butter Beer

Ingredients

Butter
Root Beer
Cream

Directions:

Place 1/4 cube of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it. Pour Root Beer into a tall microwave-safe glass and heat on 50% for 30 seconds or as needed so it is moderately warm. Warning: If it is warmed too much, it won't be fizzy or taste good. Pour 1 teaspoon of melted butter into the Root Beer a little at a time, stirring constantly. After butter and Root Beer is well blended, gently add a little bit of cream and stir. It may take a few times to determine the amount of butter and cream needed to make the perfect-tasting ButterBeer!

P.S. I'm traveling right now but I'm gonna give it a try when I get home, I really like the taste of Root Beer AND butter, (cream usually goes in my coffee).

A local TV show (of a few years back) called "Laverne and Shirley" had a character that stirred up an interesting mix as well. Laverne (played by the actress Penny Marshal) liked to add milk and Pepsi Cola together in a bowl and drink it. Almost like an ice cream float - sorta - kinda?!
