I'm finishing up my rappy 30 from that Heliproz combo.. and I bought a cool looking purple button head flybar thingamabob... It does not have the ball bearings in it, so I need to get the bearings out of the stock aluminum flybar head... but I cannot get them out!!! Any suggestions?? Should I put it in the oven for a little bit to expand the metal and try to pop them out, or will that damage the bearings?? HELP PLEASE!!

Your going to have to heat up the existing
seesaw. It's aluminum so it'll expand more/faster
than the beraings. Then you should be able to
push out the bearings using the end of the flybar
or a section of coat hanger or a drill bit.

Bearings

I had the same problem. Even heating them up didn't help. So I bought new bearings.

I can't believe how much heat it took, but it worked.. Thanks again z11355

I'll post some pics of this puppy as soon as the rest of the parts come in.. Then it'll officially be tricked out!!! I think I have 98% of the aftermarket heliproz stuff in it as well as a killer paintjob from Canopy-FX.

Thanks again for your help!

Heh... I went through the same grief with the same purple button. 25 minutes and a mini torch. Aluminum is very good at dissipating heat, so it takes quite a good hit to warm it up.

I think it would have been worth my time to just have bought a pair of bearings though. That, and the old seesaw looks a bit battered now after being held with the pliers and getting torched.

Bearings?

If you had to use THAT much heat, I would have a very long look at those bearings. They can take a certain amount of heat but they are not indestuctable.

oh they're fine. The aluminum acts as such a good heat spreader that I doubt I have anything here that can bring that big of a chunk of aluminum to a temp that would overheat the bearings. When they finally popped out, one fell in my hand and was fairly well within my hand's tolerance to hold.

That gets me thining though, what does it take to cook a bearing? I suppose if it's a teflon-sealed bearing, not a lot. But for any other bearing, all that's in there is steel and a (most probably petrolium based) lubricant. You'd probably break down the lube long before damaging the ball or race. Pump in some new lube and it should be about good as new?

I just got a set of those bearings out. Just tapped them through from the other side with no detectable bearing damage other than a slight blemish in one of the shields. The bearings rotate smoothly though.
Took under 2 minutes.
They just fall into the purple U/G piece from Heliproz and are held in with the flybar arms.
