The "HTTP://" tells the browser what protocol/port to use, port 80.
The 205.134.230.242 is the IP address of the site.

Normally you would use http://www.runryder.com. When you do this the computer would do a DNS name lookup to resolve the user-friendly name of www.runryder.com to its IP routable address of 205.134.230.242. Once this lookup is complete the Internet would then route the traffic to the IP address of 205.134.230.242. An IP address is like you phone number and the user-friendly name would be like your name and the DNS lookup would be like the phonebook.

If your ISP assigns a unique IP to you, you can use the one or the other. If your ISP runs multiple webservers on one computer (which has usually only one IP adress since there's only a limited number of them), the IP only leads to the default web or to an error message, depending on how the webserver is set up. This way, the webserver on your ISPs computer needs and checks the typed-in URL (eg www.runryder.com) and leads the user's browser to the corresponding website. RR seems to have an unique IP.
One other thing you can do to find it whenever DNS fails: look for the "hosts" file on your windows machine (usually located in some /windows/system... directory and create an entry

205.134.230.242 runryder.com

using your simple windows editor (not word!)

Windows always checks the hosts file for URL to IP assignment, a very simple NS (nameserver).

Sorry mac guys ... there's maybe also a solution for you but don't ask me

If I understand what your saying, you are looking at the logs from your website and the IP's that went to your site.
Everyone on the internet has an IP but you will only get a website when you put " http://205.134.230.242" in your browser if that computer (or one sharing the connection) is hosting a website witch is not likely b/c most people don't surf the net with web servers.
