What is the best bar none pop up ad remover from the computer? not looking for the blocker as I am running that one aready. I somehow have a program loaded onto my drive that generates a crap load of pop-up's anywhere I go on the net...getting kinda old! I have downloaded a few "removers" but they did not seem to get it off yet... any REAL good removers out there? Thanks Jeff.

Look for the program "Gain" it is your problem. Remove it's directory and then don't let it get re loaded

Thanks, I did a search from the tool bar for "Gain" and it did not come up with anything... any idea where this bugger is? Jeff.

Try ad-aware. You can get it from Download.com. If you run Kazaa you need to actually look at the comments about the program because you will remove it otherwise. There are two files which need to be kept. It removes all the spy-ware which helps remove ads. Hope that helps you.

Have you downloaded Adaware 6 from www.lavasoftuse.com AND ran the update feature before running a scan? If that doesn't take care of you spyware popups then you got serious problems on that computer!

Yep, I have Ad-aware and downloaded the updates... I found TVTMD.exe (memorymeter) running in the task manager that I did not install...seems to be a spyware of some sort. Seems hard to get rid of as well, Ad-aware does not remove all of it and it re-loads. Looking into ways to getting this dude off of there...maybe replacing the memorymeter.exe with another benign executable and making it a read only might work for now until they have a remover for me..... ? I am trialing zerospyware right now and it managed to find trojans, dialers, spyware, and pop-ups. Eventhough I removed the some of them, I am still getting pop-ups. Frustrating isn't is?

goto control panel, aministrative tools, services

find messenger in the list and disable it.... also set it to manual...

Its not MSN messenger its windows own network messenger that hackers have found a way to exploit to create more popups...

I have had that disabled too...boy those messenger pop-ups get old quick too...I know it's a hole in the software that the guys get in through...or something like that... I retake my words in the other post... I had the older Ad-aware program and did the update, But I found the new 6.0 one and it seems to have taken care of the problem! Thanks guys! Jeff.
