Hi,
I would like to know if some of you ever make a conversion of a Piccolo or a Hornet from electric to nitro power?

Thanks...........Sylvain

I don't think it's practicable... they are too small to make any conversion.

Now that I would like to see!

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Hmmmm now where did I put that Cox TD.010 I was toying with?

Interesting concept now that they are available in collective pitch.

CyberHeli has CP kits in stock as of today. Stephen says they come with all the parts needed for conversion, so you don't have to get out the acetone and start trying to yank things apart. $90+shipping. (placed my order this morning!) The kit does NOT contain a receiver, you'll need a 5ch so take out that 4ch and start hunting now.

I looked around for awhile and the only small and light 5ch receiver I found was the Hitek Micro 555. They're quite a challenge to find in Futaba modulation, (RDC8200) but the JR/Airtronics shift models (RDC8600) are in stock in various places. ($65 w/xtal) Take off the case and cut weight about 30%, tho still not as small or light as a feather receiver. (which, as far as I could find, were ALL 4ch)

(btw, found it, www.fmadirect.com)

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH FUTABA SHIFT??!

Nobody has the Micro 555's in stock in futaba shift, but everyone has a JR shift model on the shelf. I just called FMA, guess what? They are the manufacturers of the Extremes, and -they- don't even have the Futaba shift models of the Extreme in stock! (plenty of JR shifts tho!)

Grrrrrrr

Makes me think it would have saved me a LOT of frustration if I had bought a JR radio instead of Futaba.

Given the weight of the battery pack and motor you'd be losing, you probably could get away with that, a little engine like the Cox and a fairly sizable tank I would think. Though you'd still need a battery pack for the servos, maybe some N-cells?

Starting it might be a chore. I have a .010 on a control liner, and it is testy. That is without having to try and rig up some sort of clutch. Fun little engine that SCREAMS when you get it running though. I'd imagine you might want a beefier frame.

Thanks, John Cadwell

6 ch GWS receiver

I have a 6 channel GWS receiver in my Hornet and it was only about $30, has worked great so far and its not much larger than the 4 ch GWS. My Hornet is still FP but the 6ch was only like $6 more so I planned for the future. Can't remember where I got right now but can find it when I get home if interested.

I tried the hitec 555, it was too heavy, even with the case removed. I'm using the Berg 6 channel rx, but plan on buying the 5 ch dual conversion one ( i hear they are working on one that is even lighter, should be out real soon) because i get hits at my indoor fly-ins. I've got the cp piccolo, and should have the astro 010 brushless setup running by next weekend. If you need help with the cp directions, check out my website, i've got a walk-through.

Oh man, those cox engines are so darn hard to start. But i must admit, once you get them running, they are quite nice and usually run very well.

You can get a 6 channel RX from here. The price is quite reasonable as well. I hope this helps some of you guys out.
