Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Throttle Curves

OK then, I setup my gasser with the same idea of setting up a nitro engine - what a shock I got before I knew it I had a head speed of 1,900 and the thing was still on the floor, shaking itself to bits!!

Someone then said that you only need around 30% opening to get the power from these things so I started to 'fiddle' with the curves. Got the hover down to a half decent setting, but couldn't get any 'stunt' curves on my JR347 as you only get five points and I just couldn't get it smooth.

I can now see why so many of you are using the GV-1 and I think I'll go down that route but I'm curious what kind of curves you guys have on your machines if your're flying without the govenor. There is so much power in this engine, I suppose you've just gotta know how to tame it .

I'm going to be ordering up a few spares next week, the tail yoke is definately bent (used a spare of my Futura for now ) and the main shaft bearings seem to have a lot of lateral movement in them.

You are right that the gas engines use a lower throttle setting. The throttle curve tends to be flatter, then going to full throttle for heavy collective. More of a "U" curve instead of a "V" curve.
