XP

I am running it on XP home. It was hard to install, but after a few days it ran like a charm. Now I have absolutley no problems with it.

I am running G2 on Windows XP. It was very slow to load up (2 mins) until I downloaded the latest update. Remember to disable any Anti - Virus software.

im not doubting anyone but i have XP and G2 has run flawless at all times. Also my anti-virus program is always on. Why would G2 be so inconsistent with different computers on the same platform? wierd..... It loads up fast and runs great no matter what version i use. Just strange i guess.

There are so many variables with software such as shared files between programs, programs that run in the background. Sometimes when I have been asked to try and repair friends computers, I have found for some reason that two programs just do not like living with each other ! or a piece of hardware just won't work with Windows The well known PLUG AND PREY ! operating system. Usually though updated drivers fixes things.

log as an X - FILE !

I agree! Many problems with G2 seem to stem from incompatibilities between sound and video cards.... Then there's compatibility issues between G2 and different versions of operating system software. Seems G2 is deemed to "work best" on Windows 98 (according to some computer experts that I consulted on this topic). There are still quite a few bugs (again, according to computer experts) with both WinXP and Win2000 when it comes to various games. The good news is.... Knifeedge seems to be hard at work upgrading G2 to fix "bugs" in the program. The version I'm running now seems to be working quite well. When I first started trying to run G2 with Win 2000, I actually had to resort to running a "beta" version of G2 that hadn't even been released yet, just so it would work on my computer (after having spent a couple hundred dollars on computer tech and 20+ hours dicking around installing, uninstalling and reinstalling the program and all the add on's!). Finally, I have a workable setup!...
Now if I could just seamlessly transpose my virtual flying skills into the same level of flying on the real deal.... hmmm.

I just built a new computer with windows xp. I went to realflight and looked around a bit and read that i needed to load g2 then update before I ran g2. It has worked perfetcly for me... 0 problems. It run better for me in xp than it did on 98.. Just make sure you update it BEFORE you run it!!!! Rob

G-2?

Hi Rob, forgive me for asking what may be a question I should know, but, are you saying I should uninstall G-2 get the updates and then reinstall G-2 to avoid any problems? Clearly I have a lot to learn about computers-if I ever do!!

Well,, when you install it there should be the control panel on your screen at the end of install. At this point you want to click on update instead of running G2. Now if you already have it installed and have ran the program ????? I guess I would run uninstall and start over.. Hope this helps Rob

98 SE compatibilty??

In Xp there is an option on the shortcut it let you run those program that works in 98 (Apparently).. I am running XP now.. but it won't work even if i use that 98 compatiblity mode so I guess i have to wait til i get that new version of USB version one.. I got some kind of Kernel error when i try starting in 98 compatiblity mode.. oh well

Knowledge Base

For those of you who are having problems running G2 under XP, try looking through the Realflight knowledge base here:

http://www.gpsoftware.com/realfligh...Update%20Issues

For those of you who are getting the "KE Internal Error 39572" try here:

http://www.gpsoftware.com/kb/q01-1048.htm

There is a lot of good information within this knowledge base. The 99% of your problems should be able to be resolved there.

Make sure you update to the latest version (.518 is the latest I think). Fixes a lot of the earlier problems.

Naomi,

Just recently I spent two evenings trying to get my friends G2 to work. He had the same problem as you. I discovered that his M/B had a built in sound chip and was compatable with DX8. Did you try to uninstall G2 and then reinstall after updating video and sound drivers. Remember to disable any anti virus software and any other program running in the background before re installing. I am using G2 Beta 2.00.533 For your info my set up is:

Windows XP
Asus M/B with onboard sound chip
NVidia G2 GTS 64mb (using NVidia detonator drivers)
512 mb DDR ram
SCSI drives (2)
SCSI Pioneer DVD drive
SCSI Yamaha CDRW

IF you tell me what your set up is, I will ask around and see if I can find an answer.
