| Quick is working on their electric, and there are some neat ideas, but their prototype is going in a different direction. I like some of what they did, but a few things stick out.
Irwin said they are going to do the electric with a clutch setup, just like the glow, not good...
The prototype has the battery inside the frame, great!
It also hase the receiver and gyro on the same frame in the back, VERY BAD!! One crash, new receiver and gyro!
It has these funky looking metal landing skids, not good, they either are too stiff and will damage the heli on landing, or will bend on every rough landing. Eventually they will break anyway.
Servo holes, why are we still sizing the holes for standard servos? People fly Logo 10s all the time of Hitec HS-85 micro servos? You are adding almost 5 ounces to the weight of the heli with standard servos. Think about it, almost half a pound!
This is just a prototype and I figure I am going to bugger it up anyway in testing. After we figure out what the best configuration is, I want to have some carbon frames made with servo holes made for HS-85s. At that point, we will redesign the frames to support some loss in weight, maybe a different motor configuration, and smaller servos.
I also need to look at lightening the head. The swash that they put on this is a little larger than the swash on the Bill's 60 glow! It is a 9mm main shaft. I wonder if a Logo, Eco 8 or Voyager swash will fit??
Anyway, here's the link to Quick's prototype
