He is not shipping until tomorrow. I have one on order for the benzine. If it is as good as the GGS-23 sensor on my X-Cell gasser, it is just plug-n-play.

I just order two of them and I think they have just become available in the last couple of days so I doubt anyone has received one yet. All you do is plug them into the kill switch and gov and you are ready to go.

kill switch

i have one ordered. if it works as advertised, it will be great.

the installation is simple and clean.

losing the kill switch is not a real issue. if you can stop the engine with the trim, you don't need the kill switch. if you can't stop the engine with the trim, you won't be able to get to the kill switch.

all around, a great idea.

Works as advertised? nel.. Cali raptor has some issue about engine sputtering when spooling up. how did you get yours running ok.? I think it's still possible to make a kill switch if you wanted to just make a Y connector at the place where you plugged into the kill switch by pass the sensor that should do it..

Update on use of GGS-23 and GGS-23RC:
I have installed and tested with the StatorGator sensor against the standard Futaba hall sensor.
The StatorGator sensors installed as easy as connecting servo leads. When switching between the Futaba and StatorGator sensors there is NO difference in performance. I wish I had not wasted the time to install magnets and GV-1 sensors.
The GGS-23 has been installed on a Bergen with a G23-PUH engine. This is a stock engine with a MA muffler.
The GGS-23RC has been installed on a 2003 Vario Benzin Trainer with a G230-RC engine. This is a stock engine as supplied by Vario USA.
Both of these Heli were flown with throttle and pitch curves that were correct for head speed and MY flying style before the goveners were installed. I did not change the throttle curve to a linear shape as has been suggested here on RR. If you have a G23-PUH or a G230-RC I would use the Stator Gator sensor!

I have the new G-231 in my X-Cell gas and have just installed the Stator Gator on it. The set up was very easy-plug and play. I'll let you know how it works, I'm very optimistic!!

I have a Vario Benzine Trainer with the Vario 5-Blade head that I have been trying to fly for quite a few months now. Very difficult to control and some flyers said the Vario Multiblade gyro will fix. Bought one but still no good. A lot of good advice from various sources and a common thread was a need for a constant head speed. I had a GV-1 which I hadn't used so I fitted it and ordered the StatorGator sensor for the RC230. The sensor fitted easily, worked perfectly as advertised and, with the GV-1 set up, yesterday I had my first (almost) perfect flights. I am very happy, thanks to Jason (Tailhook2K), Tom (Fidman23) and of course Bill (billme) for the engine stuff.

Flew the gasser with the Stator Gator yesterday. The unit performed as advertised with NO adverse effects!! I need to do a little work on mixture so I will use no governor for while, but I tried it with the mixtures on the rich side and all worked very well. Thanks Tom, you saved me some work! The Stator Gator is Plug'N Play.

That's nice to know you have good experience with it. Today i had a hot start on my benzin..... whew! wrong model memory.. go full throttle.. you know how much torque on that engine! Kill switch save the day. ! I think its still possible to have kill switch by connector where the spades are in case of emergency, kinda like the using a "Y" connector setup. If things getting better you might have another customer in a very near future. looking good so far.

Don't get me wrong Brian.. I love Tom's sensor. I already have an optical sensor make up for my GV-1 but I might sell the sensor to who ever might need one when i gets the statorgator sensor later. I'm merely making a point that it's possible to add a kill switch If wanted to as Tom said he design such as way that it's just plugged right into the spade connectors and that' it. done with. the rest is programming the governor. I like that. I don't feel like to paint my main gear and put a strip of metal reflector just to get the GV-1 working, too much of a hassle.

There is a way to use the same kill switch setup you have now without adding the statorgator. Don't get me wrong, the statorgator seems to work great.

But you can use your GV-1 without any extra parts, and without painting shiney spots or installing magnets.

See my posts about using the built in magnets of the G-23 flywheel to trigger the stock GV-1 sensor. It works fine for me! No extra parts to fail, no extra cost and a very simple installation with all the radio electronics well away from the ignition noise generating parts.
