Just finishing my second gallon thru my heli....I was getting a little brave I guess...moving it around a little....sideways flying a little...I think I got the nose facing me and just zigged when I should have zagged.....I don't know exactly what happened...definite pilot error I know....I can nose in hover in g2 halfway decent...real life, I can't do it...heli seems to want to come at me and obviously I panic ...spindle shaft, main rotor grip, main gear, main mast, drive pulley, main frame left and right, lower swashplate, washout arm and link...over 100 bucks...maybe other things I havent noticed yet....tail seems ok...i hope..nothing noticeable...believe it or not, the mixing arms did not break!!! ...oh well...over 100 bucks means free shipping from heliproz

In a weird way, I am kind of looking forward to putting it back together...definitely a challenging hobby here...and expensive of course :

we`ve all been there. hang in there, it will come with practice, i`m just starting aerobatics and you`d better master nose in hover before going into forward flight. you might want to try slapping the training gear back on for now, and getting back on that horse. once you get used to the inputs for nose in, it will be just like tail in hover
good luck

I wish I could blame somebody other than myself for the crash...I would not have gotten through 1 tank of fuel without the instructor let alone 2 gallons...Thanks Instructor Tailwhip!!!!

DUDE!

Don't feel bad, I can hover inverted better than nose in for some odd reason. Mental thing I guess, I'm intimidated by my own heli!

I dumped my Rappy on Friday. All I was doing was a flyby. It was overcast... I was ok up high, but when I dipped below the horizon I couldn't tell which way the heli was tilted. Damage was minor to the heli but my pride is still hurting

I zigged when I shoulda zagged too!

Yeah, I flew mine into a powerline--about as stupid as it gets.

With regard to nose-in, it really is very important. Before getting heavy into FF I'd recommend learning ALL orientations. Try and get so you can hover a full tank slowly pirouetting in one place. It seems hard at first, but once you get it you'll be amazed at how you just "know" what control inputs to make--Thats when it becomes a lot more fun. G2 is your friend!

I do fine if it's pointing at me at like a 30 or 15 degree angle, but when its directly pointing at me I have brain farts. Just need to burn some more fuel I quess.

"Pure" straight forward nose-in is definitely harder. I think the key at first is going into nose-in "mode". By that I mean going through a checklist in your head of how all the inputs change. i.e. "down elevator is back", "right aileron moves left", steering the tail for rudder, etc. , and just keeping a smooth control on the sticks so things don't get out of hand.

Try it at a time when you feel really comfortable with flying so you're not as nervous, and just think it through and commit.

It's easy to forget all your mistakes you make on the sim....hard to forget the real ones.....

G2

G2 is definately your friend. But you have to use it like you are flying your own heli.sometimes I get in the habit of just flying like I dont care if I crash, because a new one is a space bar away.
On G2 I fight it all the way down like it is my own heli.I think that helps me with my recovery on the real thing.
Practice nose in and each side.Get used to different orintations. It will make you a better pilot.
