I keep coming back to Vario website and eyeballing the Kobold. $434 for a .60 size heli, which later can be easily converted to one of their cool scale ships sounds very interesting. I know it's not a huge gamble and I keep hearing about the great quality of their helis but I would love to hear from someone who has one. I was told by Vario salesman that it is a great heli, will do everything whithin reason including most 3d stuff, quality parts and can be upgraded to torque tube drive for $40 or so. Isn't there anyone here who has one?

I have a Vario Sky fox. The Sky Fox is a Kobold with some upgrades such as full ball bearings, more metal parts, etc. The Kobold is upgradable to Sky Fox, but its cheaper in the long run to start off with the Sky Fox if you want to fly 3D.

If you are going to be flying a scale heli, then a Kobold is all you need. Not too many people attempt to fly 3D with a scale body!

The only thing I would suggest is to buy the 120 degree CCMP upgrade. It only cost $10 and is much better then the stock 90 degree CCPM.
