How beneficial is it to have a carbon tailboom & carbon tailboom supports, rather than the aluminum ones... that is after I learn to fly proficiently?? Is there a real noticable difference in the weight/flight performance, or is it somewhat of a status symbol thing saying "hey, I don't have boom strikes anymore"

I was just curious..
Thanks

You don't need them IMPO. As a matter of fact alot of the top pilots prefer not to use a CF boom because they say that they flex more than an aluminum boom. I haven't ever wanted to spend the money on them, so I really can't say if it is true. As for CF boom supports, I do like those. Not that they are needed. But they (in most cases) are more rigid than most aluminum ones, like the ones on the Raptor 30. Not to mention the pretty ends in a color of your choice. But that is just my thoughts on the situation. Others may disagree.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

Interesting! Then why does Curtis use an aluminum boom on his ships? My Vigor has one, as does the Vigor CS. As did the Milli that I saw Mark Kiner flying at a buddies house a few months back. Or atleast it looked to be aluminum. I am wondering what gave you the impression that this is why the highend ships "sometimes" come with CF booms. Not trying to start a fire fight. But I don't agree with that analogy at all.

most all the 60's that i have seen in pics have carbon booms. unless alot use black aluminum booms? ive put dents in my aluminum ones just from handling them the 60 size booms must be thicker that the 30's, although... the raptor boom does seem to be a bit stiffer than others.

Booms

YS...BB is correct,

Most 60's use Aluminum (anodised black) because they are stiffer.

Some 30's and 46 (Century for one)also come with the better looking black anodized aluminum booms
