Hi guys,

I am strongly considering contest flying this year, and I'm looking for set up and equipment suggestions.

Since I am a Miniature Aircraft Pilot I am planning to purchase another Fury (with the Pro IIK rotor head and tail pitch slider assembly). I fly Futaba electronics, and YS motors, so please limit your equipment recommendations to those brands.

Thanks in Advance,

Darrell

Contest Class

Hi Paul,

I think I should compete in Class II.

Thanks,

Darrell

I am thinking about competing as well in class II. Would like to learn more about setup issues. I fly Hirobo, Futaba, and YS.

My suggestion is to use the pro 2 (3 piece) paddles with one piece of lead in the paddle. The Miniature "Gamma" SEMI-SYMETRICAL blades 700mm are a real nice flying blade. A 60 engine will give you PLENTY of power for class two maneuvers, and easier on fuel for practicing.

The 401 Gyro w/9253 will work fine on the tail. If you have the money, the 601 is killer, but I still run the 401 for now.

Smooth engine is the key. You will not hover well if things are shaking on the heli. Skids at eye level for hovering maneuvers is important. Get your orientation down pat. You may need to switch sides of the machine for wind conditions at a contest.

Good luck

Set up

Hey Darrell, (et al)
Paul is correct, get the model glass smooth. ANY little shake shows up and judges, being human, unconsciously will down grade for it. Get someone to observe cones for you and practice sitting STILL over them. It's better to be still and miss the cone than to be over the cone but wandering around. A contest buddy really helps on this. Get the same one to observe aerobatics and make sure all your maneuvers are centered and your entries and exits are the same altitude. PRACTICE!
Good Luck!

Thanks for all the input!

Thanks for all your help guys! I have decided to buy a new Fury 60 Expert with Pro II paddles and the full metal head. YS 61 ST II, Hatori muffler, GV-1, GY601.

I am trying to decide between 9252 servos and 9151 servos any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Darrell

The YS .61 ST II with the Hatori 80/90 muffler is the smoothest/quietest running engine combo I've ever had. I was just testing out the water since I was an OS fan, well the waters fine and I like it!

Servos

dlbell: Get the 9151's. More torque for the money.

See you at the Library in Vegas next year! That's if you can pull yourself out of that booth to spend some time with the buddys.

Bike Trailer

RappyTappy, did you get a trailer for your bike yet? We miss you at the field. My offer is still open to punch you in the eye and hide your bike for you. You'll be driving again in no time.
