ok guys hope you can help me out. I am buying a hirobo vertol from a guy that is selling it to me. It is the older version of it. I was wondering what upgrades do i need for it to make it to the newest version out there. I want to make it a topstart, and want to put in the os 50 heli engine. what will i need does anyone know or did this before. also how many gyros would you need to fly this bird. I am excited about a new challenge. If anyone has any info on this or can give me some advice or pointers that would be great. thanks tom

I just bought a vertol of the net and it has the o.s. 50 with top start in it already ,I have not flown it as it has to be all checked and bolts tighten etc.The top start looks to be the same as my hirobo super cobra ,so maybe you can just order the fan /clutch assembly with the top start from hirobo.

I am not sure what the difference is in the old and newer version. Not much that I can remember from looking a few hundred times. I think the engine mount / fan and clutch /start shaft should do it. I have been just going to Hirobo direct for my super cobra as no one carries parts for the scale stuff.

Mine was already converted when I bought it off the net. It has a plastic fan with a collet to tighten it to the engine shaft and then an aluminum riser to the clutch.There is no start belt or plastic adapter like the old one .I suspect that the SE clutch assembly is what you want as my Hirobo super cobra has the same setup but a little larger than this 50 size .
Sounds like a lot of work changing the belt to shaft and changing the rotation .
good luck

The part numbers for the clutch start shaft ,etc. are as follows.
one way adpt.=====0404-402

bearing block =====0404-013

upper bearing=====2500-066

clutch bell bearing==2500-049

clutch bell ========0404-034

clutch lining =======0400-004

lower clutchbell bearing==2500-046

clutch/start shaft===0404-063

bolts for clutch====2532-021

fan /alum tower adpt.
bolts/ collet /and special
washers for the tower =0404-514

fan housing ======0404-044

starter wand extention ===0404-403

Now remember this is for a 60 size engine and I am not sure that the collet and special tower washer will fit a 50 . I would think that the 50 size seadua or other 50 size hirobo would be a better fit.Unfortunately mine didn't come with any paper work on the switch over.

I have learned that it is always better to fly it the way it was built first and then start messing with stuff.That way you have a comparison as to whether or not it helped.
