Has anyone ever had or heard about problems with this receiver?

The other day I was landing my helicopter and as I just put it down on the ground and I was locked out. I had no control over anyhting. All I could do was watch it spin until a wind gust came and knocked it over. After I pulled the fuel line to shut down the engine I still had no control over any of the servos. I shut the power off on the heli then turned it back on and everything was fine again. The batteries had plenty of juice and everything has been working without any problems up until that point.

Thanks

I don't know from experience but I have heard/read others have had problems with them in helis. Something about the vibrations... don't really know if it is a legit claim or not but enough of them out there to make you think.

You haven't mentioned whether the receiver has survived any crashes previously? Has it?

I fly the 9Z and chose to stay with the 149 Receivers, I have a handful of crystals for my Rx and I use the FSS synth module in the 9Z.

Sounds like you're having the same problems others have had with that receiver. Send it back for a checkup and hope for the best.

I will say this, I lost control of my R60 once when it was only 2 flights old. I was only about a half/foot off the ground and I suddenly had no control.

Turned out I had a bad on/off switch. I've seen others have this problem or one with the battery to switch connector getting loose or gunked up and not making a good contact. Just like you, we got locked out, mine skidded along the ground for ten feet or so and then tipped over and shredded a set of MS680 blades. It was sad to watch it...

have a couple of the 309dp's, I never had a issue with them .. the exception was when the antennae wire got cut off at the front by the canopy edge I lost signal then .. no other time ..

309 DPS Receivers

I use 309's in all of my top end heli's and fixed wing and have not had a problem with them except for one. The one that was defective came with my new WC2 radio and failed on the ground after about an hour of use. Luckily there was no damage. Futaba replaced it without an explanation as to what was wrong with it.

Our club has a very large proportion of beginners who perhaps don't recognize the value of a top end heli or fixed wing and certainly wouldn't step up to the multi-thousand dollar cost of replacing one. I won't fly on a frequency that is in use by anyone else at the field and use the frequency shifting capability of the 309 to accomplish this. Two weeks ago I ran into a new club member putting his frequency pin on Channel 24. I glanced at his radio to find that it was an old wide band AM radio on 72.240. He had been given the radio by his uncle who had it lying around for years. Pleased with his gift he has cobbled together a new battery pack from old packs with dead cells (he was very proud of his ingenuity) and reasoned that 72.240 was channel 24.

The thought of all this still leaves me in sweats!!!!!!

actually i'm hearing more problems were none exsited before .. 309dp's work fine ..

alot has to do with the owners and how they setup their machines, not the radio or it's composition .. the radio's have worked for years and most responsible pilots check or calibrate their radio equipment ..

alot of claims are made about radios .. this, that, and the other just claims or suspicions for the unrecord .. when you send in your radio for maintanance they will determine if the filters need to be replaced .. if needed they will change them , but in most cases it's not the cause of the glitches - if any ..
