RunRyder Member Service > Java problem??

Mark, I have been getting multiple server errors on this site. I will click to navigate but get no upload communication to the server at all. If I hit stop and retry about three times, all of a sudden it takes off and is very fast. I would usually suspect a local machine error but it only does it on THIS site. Is there a protocol or preference that I need to set or change to get the usual, fast response (at work I am T-1)?
thanks,
Gordie

What browser? I am not sure what to recommend. Things are responding fast for me and I have not heard of any other complaints lately. Can you try the site from another computer on your in house network.

What do you mean by "Java problem"?

I've had a similar problem before with Charter Pipeline Cable Modem.
It turned out that their routers were having issues with servers that required reverse DNS lookup. RunRyder is one of the sites that I've had experienced the problem you are describing. There is nothing Mark can do about it, it has to do with your ISP.
Your problem might be different though.......

Mark,
Sorry, our techs refer to any kind of server/ internet problem as a "Java problem", probably a combination of Java programming they do and all the coffee they drink trying to fix stuff.
I am running Netscape 4.77? (the latest one) on Win95 (an antique but FSU won't give me 2000) and, once I get the darn computer to start to communicate, it's VERY fast but sometimes it takes about 3-4 tries to get the computer to send an upload signal (I have a transmit receive gauge I can watch). I am sure it's a local issue but I have no idea about how to go about resolving it and thought maybe you had run into this before and there was an easy known fix.
If you guys have any good ideas let me know as this is the only site I've found that causes this.
thanks for the response and I'm enjoying the site.

Hey Mark,
I finally broke down and loaded WIN98Sec on this machine and ..... the problem disappeared and the RunRyder site is back to its usual high speed. DOH!
