Some have recomended one or the other in this forum, what do you think?? Does the racing oil have better heat qualities? Where is the best place to buy it in the US and especially Canada?

I'm going to test some with my new engine....I know 100:1 works with 2 ounces....I'm doing this just in case its better..I was hesitant at first because it stated it was for injection, and water cooled , plus air-cooled engine...After talking with a Amsoil engineer, I'm going to try it...
If your in a hurry, just use the 100:1 mix at 2 ounces...There is a lot on here, and other forums that you can get good info on how to do everything..
Regards,
Bill

Very Important

Do not use the Amsoil 2000 racing oil, period...We tested some at the recommended mix, and a g26 locked up with Rusty today due to oil break-down...
I should have known since this oil is a multi use type oil; water cooled, injection type..But! it also stated it was for aircooled 2 cycle engines ..

Let me say that this does not effect my use of the 100:1 mix, as it is still the best oil to run, even under exstreme condistions..I have never had a engine to fail yet using this oil or heard of anyone else for that matter..
Since someone else recommeded the use of this 2000 racing oil on Run Ryder, I desided to try it since it was a Amsoil product....You live, and learn
I have always stated that I would let anyone know the outcome of any test I do, wither good or bad...I have done so..
Many Regards,

Bill

What is your recommended mix for the G26 in a Heli? Thanks much.

2 ounces of the 100:1 mix is fine, no more....Thats 64:1 which is way more than they recommend for extreme condistions... These new generation engines have better combustion due to increase in port and carb size, and can handle the extra oil...

Bill that's 2 oz to an american Gallon right? We work in liters up here in Canada so what does that amount to per liter??

gyan,

That is 2 ounces to a American gallon (128 ounces) Your going to have to get someone else to figure whatever you use up in Canada...I'm not into that metric stuff Heli-gal, and several others from Canada I'm sure can help..

Brian,

I haven't even plug the Gov in yet ...I'm going to break the engine in without it since I mostly do autos during the break-in...I've heard nothing but good feedback about it though...I'll let you know as soon as I do...

I'm also waiting for back-ordered spindle for the Pro head which I've upgraded to....MA move to a new location must have caused this..
So I'm playing with the Jet Ranger while waiting

Bill

Amsoil 100:1

3.78 liters to a Us gallon so
1 oz =30 ml
2 oz = 60ml so 3780 devide by 60ml = 63:1
39 ml = 97:1
44 ml=85:1
50 ml=75:1

I would go with 50ml which is 75:1 per 3.78 liters for the first couple then you can cut it down a little after each gallon.Sound about right Bill?

You can do it that way...I like for the new engine to run the 2 ounces...Personally, I cut the oil down to 85:1 when using gas , and 2 ounces minimum when using camper fuel..
The 2 ounces gives very good performance for the newcomer using a gas engine... Once he has educated himself on how the engine reacts to his own changes, and learns to read the color of the plug, then its ok to cut the oil..
When I ran the older engines with the older 167a carb, You had to use 1.5 ounces are even less, to make the engine run smooth, but its not necessary with these new engines..
Thanks for the conversion

TVAILLANCOURT says:
"2 oz = 60ml so 3780 devide by 60ml = 63:1" & Bill says he runs 85:1 please correct me if I'm wrong Bill. Your suggesting I run 63:1 until I become accustomed to the heli/engine then run 85:1. What is a good run in time for a new engine? This engine has 2 GAL (US) thru it now, I am somewhat familiar with plug colors from automotive engine work I've done over the years, a light tan color if I'm not mistaken is this the same for the G23's? I'd hate like H*ll to starve this engine from oil !!

My 63:1 ratio was for what I ran in my new engine. My 3rd gallon I will be cutting to 47ml = 82:1 from 60ml =63:1
