This may seem like a dunb question but fairly new with electrics. Always had the sirius for nitros where its plug and play. I was told I could charge my NiMh birdseed battery with my Sirius charger using the Tx side. However when I do the battery gets really hot. So I bought a Triton charger where I could control the current. What is a good current to charge it at. I tried using the auto but it always selects 0.1 amp. This would take forever.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

Mike,

NiMH cells will get warm to hot while fast charging. They can handle a fair amoutn of heat also. The cells are exothermic in charge meaning they give off heat as they charge whereas nicads are endothermic and actually cool a bit when they start to charge - only when they peak do they heat.

I would do a slow charge then a few cycles at .7A then after a few cycles go up to 1A and see how they respond. They will get pretty warm but they will actually perform better in flight when warm.

Good luck!
