Hello all,

I got a very nice finish gel-coat fibre glass canopy, I am going to paint it. Can anyone tell me how to prepare the surface for spray painting ? Since the gel coat is a perfectly smooth finish (no pin holes, no nothing, perfectly smooth), do I need to sand it down ?

Because it is perfectly smooth is the reason you must sand it. If not, your paint will fly off on the first high speed pass you do. Really, wet sand it will 600 grit sandpaper, and if there are no imperfections, go ahead and start painting.
