I have a KSJ muffler for OS61. It did not come with a gasket, instructions do not mention a gasket or its use. Should I use one? Looks like the fit between the muffler and the side frame is very tight, not sure if the muffler will fit with the gasket without grinding out a little bit of the sideframe out (Ergo60).

No gasket

I don't use any gasket. I go metal to metal and make sure it's tight.

The paper and cork gaskets will eventually leak. If you must use a gasket, get a aluminum one and use some hi temp RTV if it won't seal.

Mine seals fine without anything on it. I do have nuts behind the pipe to keep it very tight as the metal in the pipe isn't very strong. I drilled it out and out some 8-32 bolts through it as I recall.

I use a thin coat of Ultra Copper Permatex. Works and holds up excellent.

Never have, never will. I find that a correctly mounted Hatori oring pipe will never give you a leak.

No

I use a very thin film of red locktite on the mating surfaces. Never comes loose on its own. Removes readily with a shearing blow from a soft piece of wood.
