I have been adding 3oz of klotz techniplate to every gallon of fuel for years. I use it in my boats, and 1/8 onroad cars, and my x-cell se. After every run or flight, I fire the motor till it does'nt even pop, thereby burning all the nitro up [ which is a moisture magnet ] and leaving the whole motor with a nice film of protective oil. I use no after run oil ever. does anyone out there do this. What do ya think?

I add 2 Oz or Klotz synthentic to every gallon of CP 15%. I really enjoy the smell of it, and it adds a little smoke and a little protection. It really doesn't add any expense since it's like 6 bucks for 32 ounces, and this just adds to my total fuel.

All I can tell you is that I get mine from my local hobby shop. I'm pretty sure if you do a search for Klotz Synthetic Oil you would come up with something.

You should be able to get it from your LHS. If not, check a motorcycle shop. Make sure it blends with all fuels.

GOOD POINT JetCat!!!!
Heck I don't really know, but I guess it couldn't hurt so I added it. I just got a wild hair one day and bought the quart of oil and have always used it since.
One reason might be that I get my CP 15% for 11 bucks a gallon and I figured I couldn't beat that with a stick..

End of Day Procedures

Rotax,
I also clear my motor out at the end of the day by idling the motor dry and then hitting it with a starter until it no longer pops. This does remove the methanol, which is a moisture magnet, from the motor, and puts a nice oil film on everything.
I learned to do this when I was flying the OS61SX that was notorious for rusting and ruining the rear main bearing. It was so bad that I was going through a rear bearing very 10 gallons or so. After talking to Cliff Hiatt, I started the idle procedure and my problem disappeared, so I just never stopped and it has served me well over the years.

Oil in fuel

I use PowerMaster 15% synthetic with 23% low viscosity oil. My engines run nice and cool and to give you an idea of well the fuel runs with the extra oil, here is a great story.

One of the screws that holds the fan shroud to the frame was stripped. So I got a bigger screws and put it in not realizing it was too long. Next time I went to fly, the engine wouldn't turn over, but it would go "click" and turn over some. This happened a few times.

When I finally realized the problem, I replaced the screw and off I flew. Flew it this way for 2 weeks until I had to pull the motor to replace a broken starter shaft on the clutch.

When I pulled the engine, 5 little black plastic pieces fell out!! When the engine turned over, it broke a fan blade. Only 1 or 2 were left! Only the oil in the fuel saved that motor.

Interesting part was there was no additional vibration or noise, I had no idea they were broken and somehow lying in there.

I do run the engine dry at the end of the day, but do not use any additional oil or after run oil.

when i used to fly CP15%, i would add 2 oz. of synthetic oil per gallon. Now that i use CP30%, i don't add oil anymore.
