HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > Compare the Sceadu 50 to the Falcon SE

I'm still looking to buy a 50 size heli so I have been researching (probably too much). Can anybody give me their opinion on the Century Falcon SE as compared to the Sceadu 50??? On the surface, the Falcon looks like a better deal with a little cheaper parts and a bit higher quality. But the Sceadu seems like they are better with parts availability and customer support. I know that this porum may be a little bias but could you give me your opinions.

Thanks,
Shawn

Both are good ships...

I have the Sceadu 50. Love it won't buy another 50 size till I want to try a Fury then I would by the 60 anyhow.
I fly with a Centruy rep who has a couple of the Falcon's both the SE and the standard. They are very nice flying ships and seem to hold up well.
The new Raven is a nice looking heli also, but with CCPM be prepared to buy some good servos to get decent results.
The Century stuff has some downsides in that they like to change things very frequently and you may (doubtfull with the Falcon) end up with an out of date (read no parts) heli real soon.
Also the fuel tank get's in the way of mufflers/pipes so you have to look at things real close before you buy.
Also not a lot of support for the Century line unless you have a rep nearby.
I would by the Sceadu. It is well built and Hirobo has a long standing tradition of support for their line.
Also they Sceadu is a more "popular" heli so help in the forums and at the field will be more readily available. IMHO

Isn't Heli World the only place to get parts. If the sevice sucks at Heli World your screwed. Hirobo is more popular and better supported.

If you don't crash it's no problem!

you could take the best heli in the world and it would be the best but if parts availability is bad, in my opinion, the heli is also

i have a sceadu 50 and love it. i have seen the century helis and they too are good anf have tons of upgrades but i think that heli word is the only place that carrys them(kits and parts) so if they are out of stock then u are screwed.

not sure on centurys but the sceadu is durable, the other day i had a firebird fly into my rotor disk at 25 ft up, 1 frp blade was cracked but the rest was fine(did not crash though)

plenty of power for too in the sceadu

Choices

I have flown the Raptor 50 upgrade and the Scaedu. I have no experience with the Falcon. I love my Scaedu. It autos great and is really smooth. I think the roll rate could be a little better. I have only taken out one of the flybar paddle wts. I will remove the other one before I fly again. Good luck.

I truly love my Sceadu 50. I don't know anyone, personally, flying the Century line of helis, and I've heard that HeliWorld customer support sucks, but again, that is hearsay so take it as I write it.

Hirobo is one of the top brand of helis to get/fly so I think you can't go wrong with it. Just do a search for postings by "ampex456" and you'll see that Hirobo trully cares about its customers (ampex456 is Jeff Green, the Marketing Manager of Altech, the US distributor of Hirobo). I have yet to see any other manufacturer/distributor showing up here and give first hand support. Just my $0.02

Sceado 50 and Falcon SE V2

For a direct comparison of features, go to the spreadsheets on:
www.nitroburner.com

Our local hobby shop now has full support of Century parts but before that, no one I know of here had any problems ever getting parts from Heli-World (One fellow is still flying and old original 1995 Hawk and Falcon and still has no problem getting parts).

I understand that Ron Lund is now also carrying kits and parts.

Sceadu /Falcon SE

Hi
The Falcon SE V2 is a great buy!! I've put an O.S. 50 in it and at around the same weight as my Hawk SE it's power to weight ratio
is awesome. So far parts have been one of the lesser concerns
never have had a problem with Heli world the local shops carry good stock! But on the other hand nothing for Hirobo locally. The ships do change as in building on the older version and parts for the whole line are available. You should post your query in the main forum and get some other opinions from more Falcon flyers. I'd have a look at the cost to keep both up and running to,so far my Hawk and Falcon are the lowest cost per flight / crash in my fleet . Have a look http://www.rchelicopters.org/

Parts from Century

I have been ordering parts for my Falcon SE along with other hobby supplies for about 2 yrs now from Heli-world and have never had any problems with parts availability.

The problem I always had with my Hirobo machines were the price of replacement parts. They were always higher than any other machine on the market.
