If you look closely at the picture you will see a white round circle just above him, that's not a marking on the aircraft carrier, that's a halo dude if I ever saw one!

I remember seeing a training film where a jet went off the deck with the canopy closed. I think it was an F9 panther, anyway you can clearly see the pilot trying to get out, banging on the canopy that had jammed. The plane was floating, but started to sink. The canopy goes under , then the tail and your thinking the guys had it.
Next thing you see is a lot of bubbles and this guy imititating a polaris missile. He ejected through the canopy...lucky guy!
