The other day I shot a little video clip with my Sony V3 just for fun. I had a whole day at a slow fire sta. so I figured I would try out the whole Virtualdub and deshaker deal and see what kind of results I would get (wasn't expecting much). I played with it all day and into the evening. Plugged in the settings that was in a link posted on here. Never got anything worth anything. Either it was zoomed in to much or played back to slow. It was always something. Probably 7 or 8 attempts.

Long story short, you guys that put out these kick a$$ videos... HATS OFF TO YA!! I couldn't even get my point and shoot camera's video through a free video editing program.

Okay, so Im a pretty determined guy. Can't be defeated by the machine and have been fooling around again today with this and I can't figure it out.

Im using the settings here:
http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/a...haker_guide.htm

I'm compressing to DiVX codec.

Any suggestions?

Searching the net just leads me back to that link.

Those settings are a good start.

But remember, garbage in, garbage out. It has to be smooth to begin with.

Well its not too bad for what it is. Definatly not the smooth flying that you guys do. The flying style that you guys have is very unique and different than anything I have ever done. Its kinda like doing stills. Some people think that you can just strap on a camera and go take pictures (not you noobs ) There is alot more involved than that and the same with video. To me, being able to produce stunning video is the ultimate goal but I'm still learning stills so thats down the road.

Still fun to play though.

Just ran it through again and it looks like I need to deinterlace it and crop it and it might be okay.

Trackhead started with video, and now he's just learning stills.

Ok I am new to using Deshaker and Vegas Pro 8 and after reading the link posted above and following those instructions I am confused about something.

1. Can you only use Deshaker through Virtualdub?

2. When I bring my video off my Sony SR12 it is in AVCHD format, and Virtualdub has to have it in AVI format correct? So what is my process, do I take it into Vegas Pro 8 covert it to AVI format or codec, then take it into Virtualdub for Deshaking, then take it back to Vegas to continue editing, and then do I convert it back to another format besides AVI, like WMV for viewing? What process and order are you pro's like Derek out there doing this in?

Thanks
Denny

By the way jhamlin, thanks for posting that link, it helped me out alot so far on partially understanding Deshaker.

Brady-You would think so but I've seen some amazing stills from track (along with more than I wouldn't even try to name).

ministock22-I wish I could help you but you lost me when I read Vegas 8. JK but couldn't tell you how to use it. Maybe someone will chime in. Glad you found the link helpful.
