Can some tell me what would cause me to have to set the gyro so low to stop a tail wag? The heli has a Futaba 240 and I have to turn the gain all the way down to 50 to get the tail to stop wagging, but then it doesn't seem like the tail is very solid. I know a bad vibration will cause this but there doesn't seem to be a very significant vibration in the heli, is there something else that will cause this?

Your control rod may be too far out on the servo horn. Try not to exceed 7mm or so from the center of the servo hub.

The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

It appears that my control rod is about 12 or 13mm's from center of servo. Is that too close or too far away?

I have the same problem, I got three 450 all same setup Futaba 401 and 3154 servo. the 3rd one is newest that tail wags. Try change servo and horn length, same thing. I'm thinking my 401 is bad. The only different, Im using AR7000, AUX receiver mounted on the back close to gyro, the other two using AR6000. This one getting me CRAZY............THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Tail wag terror

ESC accidently set in governor mode can also cause this in normal mode, it can change after a crash or if you forget to straighten your throttle curve before setting up the ESC.

If you have problems with 3 setups, you're missing something on your setup. I would work on one Heli till you get it right, when you find out were you went wrong it should be the same for the other two.

My old trick for the 240 was to do a rate mode mechanical trim hover over and over till it stays with no drift or electronic trim, also here is a V2 wag fix using aprox 3/16 of fuel tubing setup with no binding, this mod pushes the slider tight to the shaft. The balls help eliminate the tennis racket effect and lessen servo strain greatly and make the tail much faster and effective. I wouldn't go much over 9mm from servo center. After you get the slop out reset your gain till it wags then back off a fuzz as usual.
PS: If you have the V1 type tail with the double fork you can squeeze the fork prongs tighter with a heat gun to control slop.

The AMA is way better than what you belong to!

Thanks for your reply. My problem is solve, my V1 tail I found out that the slider bearing is wabling. So I replaced it with V2 slider. Now my tail is stable. IT's a brand new kit with defective parts.

Thanks
