I just got the raptor 30 arf, with the O.S.32 engine, I was wondering is there anything that i should check out that might of been neglected during the assembly process from the factory?, everything seems to be ok, anyboby out there, with a ARF Raptor, that has found problems later on down the road?. Thanks in advance! Joe.

Rap 30 ARF

The problem with the one I had was that the clearance between the clutch and the clutch bell liner was too great. The engine had to run at too high an RPM (just under 1/2 throttle) before the blades would start to turn. I hear that this is the case with some (not all) of the Raptors (ARF or kit). Just something to keep in mind if you need an excessively high RPM before you get the blades to turn. I also had to use an excessive amount of weight to get the stock wood blades to balance. Bob

Joe,
You probably won't encounter this problem, but while bench setting a R30 ARF a week ago for a friend, I could not get the tail set up correctly. The tail linkage would also "lock up" to one throw direction. Upon close inspection I found that the R30 ARF had been shipped with a R60 tail output shaft! Of course, Thunder Tiger is making it right, but it's still a hassle. I have also found that the R60's (maybe the 30's now also, don't know) do not have backing nuts for the control balls, but only use a self tapping screw which makes me unconfortable at best.

Later,

THANKS! guys, the info is greatly appreciated!, I did take the heli out side and start it, it seemed to run very smooth! the main blades were taken off, I cant believe how quiet it is!, I could not fly it because it was real windy, and cold.. I have put on a FMA co-pilot on this heli,I checked the calibration, and it seemed to work properly in regards to the control check and movement, WOW, this thing is strange, I will post my results with this new heli, when the weather gets good enough to fly. Thanks again guys!!, Joe.
