You have been to many hobby shops and NONE have heli fuel? That sounds crazy! Every hobby shop I've ever been too...even ones that aren't heli friendly have heli fuel.....

For the last 3-4 years I've been getting my fuel online. A should clarify, I look at the prices online and call Buzz at Magnum Fuels to confirm the prizes. I do this with a few of my flying buddies and save quite a bit purchasing 16+ cases or even a 55 gallon drum.

Earlier this year, I got 12 gallons, last year I got 14 gallons and the year before that I got 10 gallons. As you can see I don't fly as much as other people on this site. But considering that I went from a gallon every 6 to 8 months when I was starting up, to 10 gallons average a year, is not too bad.

Check out the prices at http://magnumfuels.com/

I hear ya. My closest "LHS" is a 2 1/2 drive for me - one way. If I need to make a fuel run, then it's usually a purchase large enough to last me a couple of years.

I suppose your choices are either Rapid City, or Sioux Falls, and then no guarantee of getting the fuel you want, unless you call ahead. Hope you can find some calm times to learn to hover. (I grew up in SD, and remember lots of wind.) Are there any other heli fliers in the Pierre area?

I have not found any yet but if there is any sd residents let me know I could use some expireranced guidance.

I moved to sd in dec and now in afghanistan so this is all for when i get back in six months.

But lots of sim time in the desert.
