I tried to get to the Sandown show yesterday,

We caught the tail of the traffic queue at the junction of the A3 and A244 at about 0915. Then moved about 1/4 mile in 50 mins. Eventually gave up, turned round and went home. The queue was just moving soo slow. There must have been another way in that was taking priority. Does this happen every year?

If you got in, how long did you wait in the queue?
Did you notice any accidents or anything holding us up on the A244?

what a waste of tickets....

Hi

Yes it happens every year for me, been the last 4 times but not this time.

Ha, last year I was busting for a pee, funny really, stuck in the que, I said to my mate I’m going to have to pee in something, so I got out and found a hedge to my relief, then this old granny came by with a poodle, I said sorry love but iv got to go, she just shrugged her shoulders and carried on walking.

The worst que I’ve been in are for Sandown Park. But we’ve travelled 120 miles and are not turning back

I have been to sandown twice now, once last year and second was yesterday. Both times I turned up at 4pm. No queues from where I was
Well I suppose if you want the best bargins then you have to be in it to win it.

Sandown

I have been for the last three years, but not this year.

I am interested mainly in helicopters and that show is aimed more towards the plank flyers than heli's. (Flame suit on) (or at least has been)

I used to get down there for about 7am, have something to eat and walk in for about 8am, I have never once whilst I have been there been asked for a ticket. I have bought the tickets a week or two before so had them with me,.

I enjoyed being able to walk around everywhere before Joe Public got there.

As for the slow roads to sandown, I though that was just the norm throughout Britian!?

I'm taking my dog for a walk in the park ;)

There were no hold ups on the 244........just the traffic lights in town and not a single direction pointer anywhere for the show
piss poor organisation for any one who doesn't live in the area, we had to go right round the perimeter to find a way in. All the bods in the yellow coats were saying was "you can't come in here"
Good show tho even if the flight line was a bit close.
Does any one know why that guy nearly took out the speccys himself the caller and the announcer?
mechanical or brainfart?

I thought the show was more plank related too, not much for the heli fans. Did anyone do a bit of price checking? I was after a Futaba 9253 servo to go with my GY401 whcih I bought off e-bay. Did abit of looking around and the cheapest one I found was £75 from Al's stand. Everywhere else was going for about £90 talk about rip off. Even the batteries that I bought from overlanders were at a throw away price, I bought 2, 4 cell, 2700mAH 4.8volts for £15 each. I dont think I will be going again though. I dont know about you guys.

Nope but Predator turbines don't bounce !!!

Hi

Didn't know you were all going, should have met up really, traffic was okay, arrived at around 9am. I thought like you it was going to be plank related but heli's seem to be getting stronger.

BTW, anybody notice that Predator turbines don't bounce very well. I spoke to one of the century rep's later on who said the pilot had been doing the same manouevre earlier with the 90 Max which weighs around 10 lbs, tried the same with the turbine which is around 15.5 lb and couldn't stop it in time. It was sort of a pirouetting, slightly nose down flat spin dropping like a stone, and boy did it drop.

Bob J's demo were awesome with the turbine Cuatro, sorry no video.

what? I think it bounces very well - considering the weight and the speed it was coming down it, it survived pretty well in my book! You didn't see what it did to the area where it came down!

ps. I was the one carrying the rest of the tail just to the right of the guys pictured above

Sandown is allways very busy its a shame you turned around as you missed a very very good show which for once this year had a lot more heli flying than it did last year.
I've allways found coming in to sandown from the m25 is just too heavy with traffic it is allways far easyer to come in from the m3 via sunbury.
i agree to the comment about bobs cuatro it was a true show stopper.

piss poor heli pilot

I was talking to a friend who saw BOBJ fly and he said he was awsome, and for someone who flies planks thats saying something. I would be interested in a video or something too.

Queues???? I've never queued ever when going to Sandown. I use the A317 and the traffic did get a bit slow because someone bowled over a dog on the road but its always been very free flowing each year I've used it.

Gutted for all you who couldn't get in. The show seems to get smaller each year. All I bought was two gallons of Wildcat. Spent the rest of the day watching flying in the sunshine.

Big up the Bob J for representin' the scene so well.

Cheers, Will.
