Need a clutch for v1 50. Will the v2 part fit? They look identical to me in the illustrated manual.

I think the start shaft is different between V1 and V2, so your starter one way may be an issue

I've never had a v1, but I'm 99% sure the v2 bell is a larger diameter. In the distant past I ordered some clutch liners and v1 turned up and they were too small.
As JS states the start shaft is smaller (5mm), the v2 is 6mm, so the bearing in the top of the bell would be wrong.

Brian at Heliproz did say that the v2 is larger diameter.

Ron at Heliproz south has a replacement part for v1 (whew!)part number JCRclutchHD so I ordered up. Can't believe I reached him as the hurricane approaches...

Yep V1 and V2 are different, V2 has a different clutch, start shaft, pinion and bearings associated with in that area.
