Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 30 Can't seem to get blades to track!

Seem like I remember reading somewhere on here that other people have had this same issue! I'm flying a Raptor 30 V1 and I'm using wood blades because I'm still learning. But I can't seem to get them to track straight. When I use the pitch gauge and get them to where they should be dead on the money, they aren't. Seems like I remember someone suggesting to turn the blade grips upside down and that solves the tracking problem. Does this sound right to anyone? Please let me know because this issue is giving me a fit.

The 30V2 doesn't have that problem. What you need to do is try a blade flip.

has it been crashed

Sounds like the spindle if it has been crashed. If not check the main shaft

It sounds like your attempting to track the blades using a pitch gauge. Although this may work with good carbons, its not likely to work with woodies. Set the pitch of 1 blade and mark the tip. Track the blades in a hover and adjust the unmarked blade.

check your feather shaft. I have a v1 also and my tracking it right on. with the v1 the feather shafts are to small in my oppion and it does not take much to bend them. i to fly wood blades and don't forget to balance them. always check wood blades 9 out 10 times you have to rebalance them.

Thanks Guys,

I will check everything in the head and if all else fails then I will try a blade grip flip. Surely something will work! Thanks for all the advice and I will report back in after I find the problem!

What he said also, you need to alter a turn at a time until it tracks, I have have had 5 V1's one flying 640's when you couldn't get 50 size raptors. The blade grip flip was to eliminate blade flutter and not tracking problems. I have never had to do this mod.

Check your shafts and bearing wear in the grips, which is the main problem area with V1 grips.

You're right! I forgot the blade flip was for flutter.

Thanks guys, I've changed my spindle shaft and I think I'll try again. I don't know if I have a blade flutter because I haven't got them to track yet. I've been trying to track them with a pitch guage and it's my understanding now that you can't do that, especially with wood blades. So I'll try again with the tested method that a few good people have suggested, one turn at time! Thanks for all your help!!!!!!!!

Seems to work pretty well on carbon blades. I almost never have to do tracking at the field. Highly recomend getting a nice set of carbons or fiberglass. Better flying, fewer problems, no hassles with repairing the heatshrink skin which allways shreads off on you...

Not sure who makes the good cheap fiberglass these days, but a while back i was getting decent fiberglass blades for only about 10$ more than the woods. (not Aero-omni reportedly they stink )
