The simple answer is yes.
The point at which you switch to idle up needs to match your normal mode or it may surprise you.
If you are changing over while hovering make the hover points the same as your idle up not the other way round.
hope this helps

If you have progressed to idleup and this means you are doing more than hovering for the most part its time to move the hove point of the normal mode UP to almost 3/4 stick. This will set you up for the progression to aerobatic flight. if your normal curve matches your idle up there are no surprises when you flip the switch.

I think in your case set up your idle up to something like + 12 and -12. Then set the normal mode the exact same. Same in the middle same all around. then if your not comfortable with the - 12 in normal, just move the bottom part of your curve to something like -4.

Now you have an un symetrical curve so its not the best case (this compresses the curve on the bottom and will make it a little touchy, but it will allow you to have the smally bottom end you may feel more comfortable with until you progress to the full +12 - 12.

Think about the compression a minute. At full bottom stick you will have -4 to mid stick you will have 0 degrees. thats 4 degress difference, but from 0 to top (or 12) you have 12 degree range. You can see how the heli will be much more responsive on the bottom = touchy. When you get comfortable you should move the range to match the idle up. This way it will feel the same throughout the range.
