ad topic title indicates I think I may have oversped the motor. I am not running a gov. And in the process of getting my throttle curves dialed in I am actually quite certain I have run it a little fast do I have anything to worry about or have I fooked my brand new motor

What was your throttle curve? Chances are if it didn't blow up then it will be fine.

It could be that you're running too lean.

As long as it runs fine now and it didn't lean out you should be just fine. Hypers love to rev and I doubt you held it at full collective for all that long.

just so you know, I was doing the same thing and today the main blade grip gave up and the heli exploded at about a 30 foot hover from overspeed. NOT GOOD, trust me. Make sure to tach it and adjust it from there or get a govenor and forget about it.

govenors are not expensive I just haven't bought one for two reasons - my lhs doesn't have then in stock and I am going on vacation for a couple weeks and #2 is I have the plastic fan and I don't want to use the magnets with it - whats a good govenor there's so many brands and models to chose from

MultiGov Pro. Super easy to setup and works incredibly well. Plus has mixture control (like a CarbSmart) built right in.
